What camera is better?

I was looking around for cameras and I came across the Canon Rebel t3, the canon rebel T1i or the Nikon d5100. Someone told me that Nikon lenses get obsolete fast and that you won't be able to use the old lenses on the Nikon cameras. Is that true?Which of those 3 cameras is better?
