How does the body use diffusion for oxygen and carbon dioxide?

Oxygen and carbon dioxide flow to their concentration gradient. This means that if there is less carbon dioxide in the alvioli and more bound to the red blood cell then the carbon dioxide will flow to the area of less concentration from the area of more concentration. Kind of like how a sugar cube melts in water. It slowly disintegrates and then slowly all of the water contains some sugar.
